Clarissa Pinkola Estés, Ph.D. je americká básnířka, jungiánska psychoanalytička a post-traumatická specialistka, jež vyrostla na téměř vymizelé ústní a etnické tradici svých mexicko-španělských předků i maďarské rodiny, která ji adoptovala. Dětství prožila v malé rolnické vesnici, poblíž Velkých jezer . Estés je mezinárodně uznávanou a oceňovanou autorkou, diplomovanou psychoanalytičkou Jungovy psychologické školy International Association of Analytical Psychology v Curychu a ředitelkou C. G. Jung Center for Education and Research ve Spojených státech amerických. V minulosti studovala na Union Institute & University, kde získala doktorát z etno-klinické psychologie za studium sociálních a psychologických vzorců v kulturních a domorodých skupinách.
