    Lionel Shriver je americká novinářka a spisovatelka žijící ve Velké Británii. Narodila se v roce 1957 v Gastonii v Severní Karolíně hluboce věřícím rodičům, otec byl presbyteriánský duchovní. Studovala na Kolumbijské univerzitě, kde získala titul magistra umění, žila v Nairobi, Bangkoku a Belfastu a nakonec se usadila se svým manželem, jazzovým bubeníkem Jeffem Williamsem, v Londýně. Lionel Shriverová dosud publikovala osm prozaických děl, za sedmé z nich, román MUSÍME SI PROMLUVIT O KEVINOVI, získala prestižní britskou cenu Orange za rok 2005.
