Adam Kay

Adam Richard Kay je britský spisovatel komedií, autor, scénárista, performer, komik a bývalý lékař. Vyrostl v židovské domácnosti a s otcem lékařem považoval to, že se stane lékařem za přednastavené rozhodnutí. Vystupovat začal ještě za dob studií na medicíně, a to v roce 1988 ve školních show. Ačkli studoval medicínu, založil hudebně komediální skupinu Amateur Transplants and a psal pro BBC Radio 4. Mnoho let pracoval jako porodník a gynekolog a publikoval na toto téma, pak ale medicínu opustil a dal se na dráhu spisovatele. Jeho první kniha This is Going to Hurt - deník z dob, kdy pracoval jako lékař - vyšla v roce 2017 a stala se bestselerem Sunday Times, kde zůstala na žebříčku přes 3 měsíce. Kniha byla velmi příznivě přijata i kritikou včetně literárních listů The Times, Financial Times, The Scotsman a The Daily Express. Kniha získala řadu ocenění: Blackwell's Debut Book of the Year 2017 , Sunday Times Humour Book of the Year , a vyhrála jak non-fiction knihu roku, tak celkovou cenu v roce 2017 v Books Are My Bag Readers' Awards. Je nominována non-fiction knihu roku 2018 v soutěži British Book Awards.)
