Gayle Formanová je oceňovaná prozaička a respektovaná novinářka, která se ve svých článcích věnuje především problémům dospívající mládeže . Beletrii začala psát, když se v roce 2002 vrátila z cesty kolem světa, kterou podnikla s manželem Nickem. V psaní totiž viděla způsob, jak na cestách zůstat, i když se zrovna doma v Brooklynu stará o dcerku Willu, jež se narodila krátce po jejich návratu. Celosvětovým hitem se stal třetí román Gayle Formanové z roku 2009 nazvaný Zůstaň se mnou , který doposud vyšel ve více než třiceti zemích po celém světě.
