Ali Smith

Ali Smithová se narodila v roce 1962 v Inverness. Píše povídky a romány. Její první sbírka povídek Free Love and Other Stories obdržela cenu Saltire Society za skotský literární debut roku a cenu Skotské rady pro umění. Její první román Like z roku 1997 se setkal s pozitivním ohlasem kritiky. Odehrává se ve Skotsku a v Cambridgi a vypráví o nerozlučném přátelství z dětství. Další sbírka povídek Other Stories and Other Stories vyšla v roce 1999. Autorčin druhý román Hotel World získal cenu Encore a dvě knižní ceny Skotské rady pro umění a také se dostal do užší nominace na Orange Prize a Booker Prize. Odehrává se v průběhu jediné noci a vypráví příběhy pěti různých postav, z nichž jedna je duchem pokojské, která zemřela při záhadné nehodě. Ali Smith pravidelně publikuje recenze a články v novinách a časopisech, včetně The Scotsman a Times Literary Supplement. Žije v Cambridgi.
